By
definition I suppose I am a Rush fan. For I cherish their immense beautiful
body of work. But I feel in no way relevant to the term Rush fans when they who think of themselves as the intelligentsia
of music use the term. They are not talking about me. They do not know me and I
do not know them. And they are of no consequence in my mind, though of much
consequence in the web of causality.
But
they cannot speak for me. They say that I am vindicated because a cozy club in
Cleveland has issued a stamp of approval. And I suppose I had thought I wanted
this. But now I think I don’t. What morbid normalcy might they now inhabit
where once they walked on clouds?
